During the 57th Super Bowl, Sheryl Lee Ralph beautifully sang the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, on the same date it was first performed publicly 123 years ago. This moment was monumental and powerful in recognizing all of the history that stands behind the song, especially being performed by someone who has deservedly become such a beloved figure in pop culture.
As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, we as a creative agency want to highlight Black artists who have changed the landscape of visual artistry. These change-makers have not only made a way for themselves but have also paved the way for generations of Black creators to come.
